Cariuma Shoes
Cariuma was born in Brazil with the ambition of turning the trainer into a tool for restoring the landscape it comes from.
The recipe has two parts.
The first is material: bamboo, organic cotton, natural rubber and other lower-footprint raw materials, assembled into classic skate silhouettes that don’t follow seasons.
The second is a commitment you can count: for every pair sold, the brand plants trees in the Brazilian rainforest through its own reforestation programme, and the planted-tree counter runs in the millions.
Cariuma flipped the usual logic of the sneaker business, where the origin of materials is dealt with as an afterthought.
Here it is built into the unit economics: buying a pair equals specific trees in specific soil.
Add the comfort that led even professional skateboarders to adopt the brand, and a design that doesn’t shout.
The trainer as a small transaction with the landscape: you get shoes, the rainforest gets trees.
Simple maths that makes sense on both sides of the equation.
