Women's ONE OF XX
Bas Timmer has been sewing Sheltersuits for over a decade: jackets that unfold into sleeping bags and are given free to homeless people around the world.
His foundation has produced tens of thousands, often from donated and surplus materials, and Timmer has become one of the most respected figures in social design in Europe.
ONE OF XX is his second move: a circular streetwear brand designed to fund the foundation.
Every piece is made from deadstock fabrics of leading European fashion houses — the highest-quality materials that would otherwise sit in warehouses or end up in the incinerator — and carries the original Sheltersuit label as a reminder of where the brand comes from.
Ten per cent of revenue goes back to the foundation to produce more Sheltersuits.
The name says the rest: every run is limited by the available fabric — one of twenty, one of fifty, depending on how many metres were saved.
Fashion here doesn’t serve as a fig leaf for charity; it works the other way round: charity is the business model.
Streetwear from luxury off-cuts that actually covers someone.
