Karst Paper Gifts
Karst makes notebooks from stone — and it's not a figure of speech.
Stone paper is made from ground limestone, an abundant by-product of construction and mining, bound with a small amount of non-toxic resin.
The resulting page needed not a single tree, no chlorine bleaching and no large volumes of water — the three most problematic items in a conventional paper mill.
And it has properties ordinary paper can't match: the surface is smoother, so a pen glides without scratching, ink doesn't bleed through and the page survives even rain or an overturned mug.
Karst built honest products around this material curiosity: sewn bindings, minimalist covers, formats for sketching and for daily notes.
A notebook is a peculiar category — you buy it for the content that has yet to be created.
Karst adds the content that's already there: the story of a material whose composition is, for once, worth reading, because it is more interesting than most of what anyone will ever write in a notebook.
Stone, resin, done.
